Virginia Tech basketball: Former Hokies star signs an NBA contract

Sean Pedulla came to Virginia Tech in the fall of 2021 as a three-star recruit from Edmond, Oklahoma. Pedulla chose the Hokies over local favorite Oklahoma State. After three years in Blacksburg, Pedulla transferred to Ole Miss for his final season and is now a professional basketball player.

Pedulla signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Portland Trailblazers this week after going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Your first question: What is an Exhibit-10 contract? Essentially, it’s a one-year, non-guaranteed contract where the player will receive the minimum NBA salary. If Pedulla auditions well for the Blazers, the team will then have the right to convert the deal into a two-way contract. Also, there is no financial penalty for the Trail Blazers if they cut Pedulla.

If Pedulla is waived and signs with the G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix, he can earn an additional bonus.

Pedulla played in 36 games as Storm Murphy’s backup during the 2021-22 season, which ended with the Hokies standing tall as ACC champions. He moved into the starting lineup over the next seasons, averaging 15 and 16.4 points per game, respectively. Pedulla was Tech’s leading scorer in 2023-24 and the second-leading scorer in 2022-23. For his VT career, Pedulla appeared in 102 games with 66 starts, and averaged 12 points and three assists per game.

In his lone season at Ole Miss, Pedulla started 36 games, averaging 15 points per game, was named third-team All-SEC and helped lead the Rebels to the NCAA Tournament.
