Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo is becoming a saga this summer as Brentford reject another bid.
After agreeing a quick deal to sign Matheus Cunha at the beginning of June, attentions within Manchester United were turned to Brentford superstar Bryan Mbeumo.
An initial bid worth £45m plus another £10m in add-ons from United was rejected, with Brentford’s demands for Mbeumo growing from the initial quoted price.
Last weekend, United submitted a second bid for Mbeumo which is much closer to the demands laid out.
On Friday night, David Ornstein took to X with an update, claiming that United’s bid of £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons wasn’t enough to convince Brentford to sell.
Following this Fabrizio Romano has spoken about the situation.

Manchester United’s second bid for Bryan Mbeumo rejected
Despite stalling negotiations, Mbeumo has made his desire to join United clear, with Ornstein re-emphasising this to be the case with no other club in the race right now.

Friday night saw Romano speak on his YouTube channel to give his understanding of the current situation over Mbeumo and the transfer.
“My understanding is that Brentford have constantly mentioned in the talks with Manchester United, the price tag of other players in the market, this is why they want more than United offered in their second bid.
“But my understanding is not that Brentford rejected the bid and talks stopped. My understanding is the conversations between Man United and Brentford continue and they are trying to find a solution.
“Manchester United remain calm, they remain confident and they remain optimistic because the player has given total priority to United. The situation is very clear, he wants to wear red next season.
“As of tonight no agreement, but talks continue as Man United try to find a final solution.”
From the sounds of Romano’s verdict, a deal seems very close and all parties appear confident a deal will be agreed. It will just take a little more from United.
Manchester United should cave in to Brentford demands
Next week, United will hit the month mark of being in talks to sign Mbeumo from Brentford, and given how huge of an addition he will be, it might be time for Ineos to cave into the demands.

Mbeumo can be unplayable on his day, and he would potentially hand United one of the best attacks in the league even without a coveted number nine coming in.
So, considering United are targeting four other signings this summer after Mbeumo, it may be time for Ineos to give Brentford what they want to get the deal done.
United need to have the bulk of transfer business done before the pre-season tour or at the very latest in July, but by taking so much time for Mbeumo, this will put pressure on each of the other deals, undoubtedly leading to overpaying and panic.
Hopefully, this time next week Mbeumo is a United player.
