Report: Chelsea bosses are‘desperate’ to sign £55m player, deal could be agreed next week

The decision makers at Chelsea seem to be fully convinced about one of their targets as they close in on a deal to sign him.

Chelsea have already signed Liam Delap, who has managed to make an immediate impact under Enzo Maresca.

Delap registered an assist on his debut before scoring his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win against Esperance Sportive de Tunis during the week.

The Blues now look set to make another offensive signing to strengthen their frontline even further ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea could agree Jamie Gittens deal next week

Chelsea’s sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley appear to be really keen on bringing Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens to Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to The Sun, Chelsea’s transfer chiefs are “desperate” to land the winger, which now looks very likely to happen.

The same outlet claims that the Conference League winners could agree to sign Gittens in a deal worth around £55m next week.

It was recently reported that Gittens’ expected transfer to Chelsea was imminent, but there has been no actual news of the club agreeing on a fee with Dortmund. However, it looks like that could change on Monday or at the start of July.

Why Jamie Gittens hasn’t been playing at Club World Cup

Like Chelsea, Dortmund qualified for this year’s Club World Cup, so Gittens has been in the US with the German outfit.

However, the 20-year-old has only played one game at the tournament so far, missing Dortmund’s last fixture.

The Sun has put that down to illness, so Chelsea fans do not need to worry about their club potentially signing an injured player.

Once the Blues conclude a deal for Gittens, they could move on to Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho. It is thought that Garnacho is another winger on Chelsea’s shortlist.
