Ex-United Defender Tuanzebe Joins Burnley

Former Man Utd star Tuanzebe makes immediate Premier League return after relegation as he signs for Burnley on free transfer.

Tuanzebe Joins Burnley After Ipswich Exit

Burnley has improved its defense with the free transfer of former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe.

The 27-year-old player joins Burnley a year on from playing for Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys were relegated last season. He made 37 senior appearances for Man Utd during his time there. He was once thought to be a future star at Old Trafford. The defender even captained them first team as a teenager. His journey has been a little up and down. He has had a build up of various loan spells at Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke. But, he now has the chance to show he can make an impact in the Premier League again.

Burnley returned to the Premier League. They made arguably the most dominant defensive display in the Championship last season. They conceded just 16 goals across the campaign. That clearly intends to stay solid by adding experience to their lineup and looking for depth.

Burnley Banking on Experience

Despite having one of the strongest defences last season, Burnley manager Scott Parker isn’t taking chances. Tuanzebe is their third signing of the summer, after Quilindschy Hartman (Dutch full-back) & Max Weiss (German keeper).

Tuanzebe’s ability to play both centre-back & at right-back provides Parker with another option. He has a physical style and is calm on the ball. His Premier League experience and knowledge of the top-flight is an asset. The newly promoted team still needs that experience and hunger to avoid the relegation zone.

Ipswich was keen to retain him, however Tuanzebe picked Turf Moor. He is hoping that he would be able to fulfill that early promise he showed at Man United.

Burnley fans will be hoping that this transfer opens up a new chapter in Tuanzebe’s career. He will be thinking of stepping up and playing a key role in helping the Clarets remain in the PL.
