As a relatively quiet June nears its end, July looks set to represent a change of gear for Nottingham Forest on the transfer front.
The summer window is yet to really get going for the Reds, with ins and outs in short supply so far. The situation is expected to change in the coming weeks, however, as the countdown to the new season really begins.
Even with a lack of movement Trentside, plenty has still been going on at the City Ground. Below, NottinghamshireLive takes a look at the latest Forest transfer news and rumours.
Weah twist
News of the Reds’ interest in Juventus pair Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula emerged earlier this week. This particular story has been running for only a few days but has already seen lots of twists and turns.
The latest concerns Weah reportedly snubbing a potential move to the City Ground. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on Thursday the American had rejected Forest, but it appears Juve have not given up hope of twisting his arm.
According to Italian publication Tutto Mercato, the Serie A outfit have their sights set on trying to change Weah’s mind about linking up with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. They are said to be keen to get a deal sorted by the end of the month.
For his part, it is claimed Weah wants to remain at Juventus. But if he is forced to move on, he would rather go anywhere but to the banks of the Trent as he believes it would not be the right move for his career.
The versatile USA international seemingly does have other options. Leeds United, Bournemouth and Everton are interested, according to our sister title LeedsLive.
Henderson warning
The Reds have been urged to steer clear of former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson as a target. The 35-year-old is expected to leave Ajax this summer and Forest have been linked with him, but this is one swoop pundits have told the club to swerve.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Alan Brazil said: “I don't want to have a go at Jordan… Because Jordan, when he first went (to Liverpool), I think Kenny (Dalglish) bought him, when he first went to Anfield, people weren't that sure, and then he proved them wrong.
"But he's 35 now, I think Forest… no. Not for me. He's had a brilliant career, not now.”
Sunderland have been tipped to snap up their academy graduate as they prepare for life in the Premier League. Gabby Agbonlahor believes signing for the Black Cats would be the best option for Henderson.
Regarding the Reds’ interest in the England man, Agbonlahor said: “Not for me, no. I'm not sure the Premier League will suit him now. I get the Sunderland one.
"He's a Sunderland lad, I get that. But apart from that, I don't think he's making the cut."
Brazil added: "That'd be ideal for him, Sunderland. Play (for) Sunderland in the Premier League and enjoy it.
“I'm not saying it's his last season, because he loves his football, but he'll probably go into coaching, won't he? I think Sunderland's the perfect move for him."
Sosa sale?
Reds winger Ramon Sosa appears to be edging closer to the exit door. According to ESPN Brazil, Forest have accepted an €11 million (£9m) bid for the Paraguayan from Palmeiras - but there is one key detail outstanding.
Sosa himself is apparently yet to give the green light to the deal. The 24-year-old will reportedly have the final say on whether the transfer gets the go-ahead.
Palmeiras tried to land the wide man in January but he reportedly made it clear he did not want to go. Earlier this month, he stated his intention to remain in the Premier League so it remains to be seen whether he can be persuaded to make the switch.
Fellow Forest winger Jota Silva has also been linked with a departure from the City Ground. Fenerbahce have been credited with an interest and Besiktas are said to have come calling with a loan offer, but sources close to the player have dismissed such reports.

O’Brien battle
Midfielder Lewis O’Brien is seemingly not short of options ahead of a likely exit from the City Ground this summer. The former Huddersfield Town man is in line to move on in the coming weeks and appears to have clubs battling for his signature.
Hull City are said to be particularly keen. HullLive report the Tigers are in talks with Forest regarding either a loan or a permanent deal for O’Brien.
According to WalesOnline, a bid from another unnamed Championship club for the 26-year-old is on the table. Swansea City had been in discussions with the Reds about re-signing O’Brien after his successful loan stint last season, but wages could be an issue for the Welsh outfit.
Valencia, Wrexham and Preston North End have previously been linked with the ex-Huddersfield Town man. O’Brien has had a number of loan stints since signing for Forest in the summer of 2022.
Do the club need to sell?
There has been no shortage of speculation about Anthony Elanga’s future Trentside this week as Newcastle United ramp up their interest in the winger. The Reds are not under financial pressure to sell and hold the cards in this situation. If any deal is to be done, it will be on their terms.
What do you think the team needs?
Not to feel under pressure to make a signing. Recent days have seen ups and downs where certain targets are concerned, with suggestions not all are keen on heading to the City Ground.
But head coach Nuno has always insisted, Forest should only be concerned with players who want to be at the club. And with so much riding on this window ahead of a European campaign, it is more important for Reds to make the right additions than rush into simply adding numbers.
