Manchester United have made an offer for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
United Step Up Chase for Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo
Manchester Utd have been making headlines this summer for their transfers. Now, reports are appearing that they have made a bif for Ronald Araujo.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan has just signed a contract extension with Barça to 2031 earlier this year. He is now being chased by a number of top European clubs. Last campaign was a mix for Araujo. He only made 25 appearances in all competitions due to injury and form. As Barcelona are now looking to raise funds to chase Nico Williams. So, the centre-back could be sold this window.
Juventus, Bayern Munich, and now Man Utd are all keeping a close eye. Although, the Serie A side is reportedly leading the race. Barca are understood to want at least €40m (£34m) to part ways with the defender. They won’t open the exit door unless that asking price is met.
Ruben Amorim’s Rebuild Taking Shape
Following a dismal 15th-place finish in the 2024/25 Premier League season, Man Utd are going all out to rebuild their squad under new boss Ruben Amorim. They have completed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. They are close to completing signing, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford as well.
The Red Devils are looking to add steel to their defence. The exits of Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans have opened the path for new signings in defence. Amorim is set to change things in the squad to fit his 3-4-3 system. Now, a solid centre-back like Araujo could anchor that backline.
While Juventus are reportedly ahead, Utd’s recent offer signals serious intent. The club’s summer budget is expected to cross £120m. This shows that they’re ready to spend big. If Barcelona decide to cash in, Man Utd might just move in and get their man.
