Crystal Palace are prepared to rival the likes of Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham with a move to sign Southampton star Tyler Dibling this summer.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 19-year-old has emerged as a surprise target for Oliver Glasner’s side.

The Eagles are confident that if a compromise can be reached over his “unrealistic” price tag, they could tempt the winger to choose their offer ahead of their rivals.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 26 June that Newcastle have set their sights on Dibling but could be forced to consider other targets.

With Europa League qualification behind them, Palace are planning to be ambitious this summer, and would be prepared to offer Dibling regular minutes.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 30 May that Tottenham have had second thoughts about signing Dibling due to his lofty £55million asking price.

Crystal Palace plot ambitious move to sign Tyler Dibling

Brown first told Football Insider in March that Crystal Palace are interested in Dibling and have been keeping a close eye on his performances in the Premier League.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted a deal will only take place if Southampton significantly reduce his asking price.

“*If Dibling leaves Southampton he has to be smart about where he goes,*” he told Football Insider.

“There’s been interest from Newcastle and Liverpool, but if he goes to either of those two it would be as one for the future rather than an immediate first-team option.

“From his point of view, he needs to be playing regular football at this stage of his career.

“Somewhere like Crystal Palace would be a better move for him.

“I’m told they’re interested, and would be prepared to offer him more regular football.

“They’re being ambitious after qualifying for Europe and want to improve their squad.

“So if he’s smart, he’ll look at Palace and what they’ve done with the likes of Eze, Wharton and Olise, and he’ll think he can follow in their footsteps.

“For Palace, I think they’ll believe they can beat other team to signing him, and they’ll be patient with his development while he’s there.

“The only issue is whether they could afford him.

“Southampton are asking for a lot of money and it’s putting teams off, so a lot will depend on whether they’re prepared to negotiate his asking price.”

Oliver Glasner confident of keeping Wharton, Mateta, Eze

On top of their ambitious plans to strengthen Glasner’s squad this summer, Palace are also aiming to keep their best players at Selhurst Park.

Brown told Football Insider on 26 June that Palace are confident of keeping Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta amid uncertainty surrounding Eberechi Eze.

The England midfielder has a £68million release clause in his contract and will be allowed to leave if it is triggered, but will otherwise remain a Palace player.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham are planning talks with Eze’s agent about the possibility of a summer move as one of their top targets.
