Chelsea have reportedly been crossed off the list of Emi Martinez's transfer suitors.

Speculation had been growing that Martinez is a wanted man at Stamford Bridge and reports in Argentina had claimed that Enzo Maresca in particular was keen on pursuing the Aston Villa number one. The Mail has also claimed that Chelsea and Manchester United have been given encouragement from the keeper's representatives about a potential move.

But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has been firm in claiming that Chelsea "are not among clubs in active talks" to get a deal done for the 32-year-old this summer window.

He adds: "No approach or talks as Chelsea respect Martínez but their focus is on different positions."

Chelsea have also been linked with AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan but it is now suggested that they are happy with their current options, Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders. Djordje Petrovic is apparently looking to leave to chase regular action.

Martinez signed a new contract at Villa just 10 months ago but his future is uncertain, particularly after the club failed to qualify for a lucrative place in the Champions League for 2025/26.

Man United have been regularly named as a potential destination amid rumours that they will try to replace Andre Onana over the next couple of months.
