Just yesterday, we covered a report from The iPaper’s Mark Douglas detailing that James Trafford is the one Toon target who is ‘closest’ to arriving on Tyneside.
Douglas stared: ‘There is still work to do on a deal for Trafford, but all parties seem to agree that the move should be completed’, Douglas reported.
‘Trafford is keen, Newcastle believe he is the likely successor to Jordan Pickford as England goalkeeper and Burnley have already signed a replacement.’
A day on, one of Newcastle’s very own has dropped what could be a big hint on Trafford’s proposed move to St James’ Park.
That man is Nick Pope, who took to Instagram last night and commented “see you soon shagger” on Trafford’s latest post, which you can see below:

Some will question if they are going on holiday together, but the squad will be midway into their trips away given pre-season training resumes a week on Monday.
Newcastle must still agree a fee with Burnley, but Pope’s comment on Trafford’s latest post strengthens this belief that it’s a matter of time until the 22-year-old signs on the dotted line, with personal terms already agreed.
