Tyler Bindon is set for another loan away from Nottingham Forest this season, with a step-up into the Championship promotion picture on the cards.
A Championship loan was planned for Bindon to help continue his development after signing from League One Reading in January.
After Bindon won Reading’s Player of the Season, the step up in divisions was always on the cards in what was determined as a more beneficial pathway than joining up with the Forest squad this season.
The destination of this loan was up in the air, though, but one Championship side are showing interest in what could well be the ideal destination.

Reading fans expect Bindon to excel in the Premier League when handed the opportunity, but at only 20 years old, there is no rush.
Especially when the ideal loan can be lined up, and, according to The Guardian, that deal may have presented itself in the form of Sheffield United.
The report said: “Rubén Sellés is eyeing a reunion with the Nottingham Forest centre-back Tyler Bindon. The two previously worked together at Reading, and the head coach now wants him at Sheffield United.”
Throwing Bindon into the Championship promotion picture was already a positive move, but to have him reunite with Sellés makes the Sheffield United move even more perfect for the Kiwi’s development.

The most important part of any loan is trusting that the recipient club trusts the player enough to utilise them, which should be no problem at all given how much Sellés loves Bindon from their time at Reading.
Rubén Sellés has immense trust in Tyler Bindon
Little was known about the centre back when he signed on deadline day in January, but Reading fans heaped praise on Bindon, having seen how he had blossomed under Sellés’ coaching.
It was the Spanish coach who gave Bindon his chance to shine at Reading and after the New Zealand international showed his worth, Sellés put an enormous amount of responsibility on his young shoulders.
In November 2024, Bindon was handed the captain’s armband by his manager in an FA Cup victory over Fleetwood Town and speaking after the game to the Reading Chronicle, Sellés showed his admiration for the then 19-year-old.
He said: “Tyler is a very important player and has been growing in the last 18 months. For me, it was the correct thing to do. He is mature enough and his character and mentality as a winner makes him always want to be in front of the team. It was a good opportunity to give him the little reward.”
By no means would this make him the obvious choice for Sheffield United’s captaincy, the trust that Sellés has in Bindon makes reuniting the pair the perfect scenario for Forest.
