James Trafford - Burnley
A hero of the 2023 final having saved an extraordinarily late penalty, Trafford completed a permanent switch from Manchester City to Burnley after the tournament. He has been excellent for the Clarets, guiding them back to the Premier League this season. Chelsea and Newcastle are reportedly interested in a potential transfer.
James Garner - Everton
Manchester United had high hopes for Garner but he moved to Everton the year before the tournament. A back injury halted his progress last season but he seems set to be a key player under David Moyes.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis - Southampton
Harwood-Bellis made a scoring start to his senior England career in November, heading home against Ireland. Fiancé to Roy Keane’s daughter, the centre-back has a lot to live up to. He was one of Southampton’s better players during a disastrous season and has been linked with remaining in the Premier League.
Levi Colwill - Chelsea
Colwill has become a superb defender and is a mainstay in Chelsea’s back line. He has won four senior England caps.
Max Aarons - Rangers
Aarons has not quite lived up to the heights expected after he impressed in the Premier League with Norwich. After a tough spell at Bournemouth, the right-back joined Rangers earlier this summer.
Curtis Jones - Liverpool
A prominent role in Liverpool’s Premier League title-winning campaign can be added to an ever-growing CV for Jones. He scored a backheel on his senior England debut last November and has earned five more caps. Jones scored the only goal in the 2023 final.
Morgan Gibbs-White - Nottingham Forest
Another player to make their mark at senior level, Gibbs-White shone for over-achieving Nottingham Forest last season and is regularly linked with Arsenal.
Emile Smith Rowe - Fulham
Sold by Arsenal last summer, Smith Rowe enjoyed a positive first season at Fulham. The 24-year-old scored six Premier League goals in 34 appearances.
Angel Gomes - Marseille
Gomes flourished in France after leaving Man Utd for Lille in 2020. He played a key role in England’s 2023 victory and made his senior debut under Lee Carsley last September. The 24-year-old snubbed reported interest from Premier League clubs to join Marseille as a free agent.
Cole Palmer - Chelsea
Palmer is a major success story of this England U21s team. He switched the fringes of Manchester City’s squad for stardom at Chelsea, and has become one of the Premier League’s best players. The 23-year-old scored in the senior European Championship final last summer and has won a total of 11 England caps.
Anthony Gordon - Newcastle
Another player who has blossomed since this tournament, making his senior England debut and winning 10 caps. Gordon has excelled at Newcastle and continues to be linked with Arsenal.
