Report: 'Sparkling' youngster now chasing permanent Liverpool exit as Everton step up interest

Ben Doak was in fine form for Middlesbrough during the 2024-25 season, with Premier League clubs even showing an interest in him during the January transfer window.

The young Scotsman was widely regarded as the Reds’ replacement for Mohamed Salah, but with Florian Wirtz now a Liverpool player, it feels unlikely that he’ll be given much time on the pitch next term.

The same goes for Harvey Elliott, who, while he did play some games for the Anfield outfit last term, isn’t likely to be given much playing time in 2025-26 as Arne Slot’s attack is already fairly stacked.

This has resulted in rumours being shared around both of their futures, with Doak’s stance on a potential Liverpool exit now being revealed.

Ben Doak would be ‘open’ to leave Liverpool this summer

As mentioned, Doak had an impressive campaign under Michael Carrick last season, with the winger proving that he has bags of potential to fulfil.

Not only is he quick on the ball, but he also has a keen eye for goal and can pick out a pass from any area of the pitch.

And, as per a report from Liverpool.com, it seems like Doak is now ‘open’ to exiting Anfield this summer.

At the moment, a permanent exit or him remaining as a Liverpool player are the ‘most likely scenarios’ as a short-term exit is ‘unlikely.’

The report also outlines that Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Everton and teams from abroad are all interested in acquiring his services this summer, which outlines that he won’t be short of suitors.

Liverpool must choose whether to sell Harvey Elliott or Ben Doak this summer

Although both Doak and Elliott are getting linked with moves away this summer, it feels like Slot should only sanction the departure of one.

At the moment, Federico Chiesa is the Reds’ backup to Mohamed Salah, but with multiple teams from across the globe interested in him, it’s unlikely that the Italy international will stay at the club.

That will then leave only Salah who can play on the right wing, that is, unless Elliott or Doak are kept on, of course.

The 2025-26 Premier League campaign is setting up to be an interesting one, and, unless the Reds have enough players to cover their backs in case of any injuries, they’ll have a tough time retaining the title.

Elliott is worth much more than Doak at the moment, despite the Scotsman’s performances in the Championship being dubbed “sparkling.”

Only time will tell what the future holds, but at the moment, it feels like there’s going to be a massive clear-out at Liverpool over the next month or so.
