Report: Arsenal make contact to sign midfield star compared to Pedri after Norgaard and…

Arsenal are reportedly set to turn their attention to Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon once Christian Norgaard's transfer is sealed.

Brazilian outlet UOL reports that the Gunners are one of three Premier League clubs setting their sights on the 20-year-old. He is wanted by Portuguese giants Sporting CP and Benfica and clubs from Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.

Bidon is a central midfielder who has caught the eye at Corinthians and could be the latest Brazilian to arrive at the Emirates. The North Londoners have a long-term interest in the Brazilian youngster who is "likely to leave" this summer amid his club's need to balance their books.

Arsenal are joined in the race for Bidon by Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers but appear to be in the strongest position to bring the South American talent to England. Reports from Brazil (via Sport Witness) have previously claimed that they have planned to make a bid.

Bidon signed a new long-term deal in early June, which expires in 2029 with a release clause set at £85.4m (€100m). However, it appears Corinthians are prepared to negotiate a more reasonable fee of around £12.8m (€15m).

The Brazilian outfit have received approaches from clubs above for the Brazil U20 international. He looks to be on the Gunners' radar amid their midfield overhaul which has seen them close in on Norgaard's capture.

Norgaard is set to undergo a medical after Brentford accepted a £9.4m offer for the 31-year-old Norweigan midfielder. He is more defensively minded than Bidon, who operates in either central midfield or attacking midfield.

Bidon has been described as an "excellent" midfield gem upon his rise to prominence in his homeland, and he has showcased versatility alongside maturity. Hehas been likened to Barcelona playmaker Pedri and impressed byhelping Brazil win the U20 South American Championship.

Mikel Arteta could have three new midfielders in his squad ahead of the club's pre-season, amid Martin Zubimendi also heading to the Emirates. The Spaniard recently arrived in London to sign a long-term deal with the North Londoners, set to pay Real Sociedad slightly more than his £51m release clause.
