Player has already completed Sunderland medical – Five year contract set to be signed

RC Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra has already passed a medical at Sunderland ahead of completing a move to the club.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that the 21-year-old will sign a five-year deal at the Stadium of Light soon.

The newspaper reports that Diarra is set to join Sunderland in a €37m deal, including bonuses, after they moved for him this week. The two clubs are already in agreement on the transfer, which will be a record sale for the French side.

Diarra has also already completed a medical at the Stadium of Light and is set to sign a five-year deal with Régis Le Bris’ side. It is Sunderland’s ambitious project that has convinced him of the move.

Their new sporting director Florent Ghisolfi is a big fan of the player and wanted to sign him for Lens when he was in charge there. He’s now revived that interest for Sunderland and secured them the deal for the midfielder.

Strasbourg expect it to go through quickly and have already lined up a replacement in Pape Demba Diop, who is being targeted from Belgian side Zulte Waregem.
