Liverpool's summer shopping spree appears to be far from over as they edge closer to signing Marc Guehi.
The Crystal Palace defender has been on the radar of numerous top-tier clubs after it emerged he wouldn't be renewing his contract at Selhurst Park, which is due to expire in a year. However, Liverpool are now leading the race and discussions between all involved parties are expected within the next 24 hours.
This would mark another brilliant deal for Liverpool, who have splashed nearly £200million on top-notch additions following their title victory. The Premier League champs have bagged Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a record-breaking £116million, Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £40million, and Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen for £30million.
Liverpool and their owners, Fenway Sports Group, have made a bold statement with these acquisitions, and outbidding rivals like Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur for Guehi's signature would be quite the coup.

There are still obstacles to overcome. Crystal Palace value their England centre-back around £70million but understand that potential buyers won't meet this price given Guehi's contract situation, reports the Mirror.

However, they're holding out for a sum north of £40million, especially considering Chelsea had a 20% sell-on clause when they offloaded Guehi to Palace for £18million in 2021.
With a host of clubs vying for Guehi, Liverpool may need to assure him of a regular starting spot.
Jarell Quansah is off to Bayer Leverkusen after finding it tough to get a look-in under Arne Slot, who favours Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as his go-to central defence duo.
Konate's contract is up in a year and there's a cloud of doubt over whether he'll pen a new deal.
However, Guehi could be a cracking long-term investment for the Reds as he's just about to hit 25.

He's already got 23 England caps under his belt and is a shoo-in for Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad next summer.
Alongside the three marquee signings, Liverpool have also brought in keepers Armin Pesci and Freddie Woodman, even though last summer's deal for Valencia's Giorgi Mamardashvili means the Georgian goalie will join Slot's crew when they regroup for training on 8 July.
If Liverpool can clinch the Guehi deal, that's likely to wrap up their summer transfer activity despite ongoing links with Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.

Meanwhile, Palace are awaiting UEFA's decision on whether they'll be playing in the Europa League next season and are bracing for bids for Eberechi Eze, who could be caught in a tug-of-war between Arsenal and Spurs.
