'I've been told...' - Journalist says Man Utd want to sign 'one of the best on the planet'…

Manchester United are eyeing a move to sign FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa after they complete a deal for Bryan Mbeumo, according to talkSPORT journalist Anil Kandola.

The Red Devils are expecting a busy summer transfer window as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his squad after a horrific first season as manager, with a deal for Brazil forward Matheus Cunha already completed.

The club are also pushing ahead with a move for Brentford star Mbeumo, with a medical expected next week despite a new bid being rejected, but the club have already got one eye on what they want to do after that.

With Man Utd keen to sign a striker after Mbeumo and Cunha, the club are also planning a move to upgrade on current number one goalkeeper Andre Onana if they are able to generate enough funds through sales.

Club chiefs are believed to rate Costa highly, and he has been described as 'world-class' and 'one of the best shot-stoppers on the planet'. United are known to be monitoring his situation with Porto, and they could make a move for him later in the window.

It's also reported that INEOS are still hopeful they will be able to deliver one of the busiest transfer windows in recent memory at Old Trafford.

While Costa is clearly someone the club like, he is not the only goalkeeper linked with a move to Man Utd this summer.

GMS sources understand that OGC Nice stopper Marcin Bulka is someone being considered, although Sunderland are currently in talks to sign him in an ambitious move following their promotion to the Premier League.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is also someone being tracked, with contacts ongoing and the player having already said yes to a move to Old Trafford, but any moves will depend on the club being able to sell Onana first.
