Newcastle United have tied up a double raid on Rangers to sign Alfie Hutchinson and Oliver Goodbrand.

The pair are both out-of-contract at Ibrox and have agreed moves to the St James' Park side.

Both players had a number of English Premier League clubs after them but have decided on a move to the Magpies.

It is a blow to the Light Blues who will be entitled to cross-border training compensation.

Rangers, however, will get limited compensation for striker Hutchinson as he only joined from Hearts last summer.

They are entitled to more for fellow 16-year-old Goodbrand, who came through the Auchenhowie Academy.

Rangers have lost a few of their talented academy players in recent years, like Rory Wilson, who went to Aston Villa.

New sporting director Kevin Thelwell will be tasked with trying to keep their top talent at Rangers, by providing a pathway to the first-team.

Rangers have gone the other way with a cross-border raid of their own.

They are set to sign teenage striker Zebedee Lawson from Brighton.

The 16-year-old is highly rated and is set to move to the Rangers academy this summer.
