It is fair to say there has been a mixed reaction among the Leeds United fan-base to the news that Habib Diarra is closing in on a move to Premier League rivals Sunderland.
Some wanted to see Diarra come through the door to boost their central midfield options. Others are less fussed and feel there is better value for money elsewhere.
But it is a big statement of intent from the Black Cats to land the Senegal international in a club-record £30m deal. Sunderland will reportedly pay £27m up-front plus £3m in add-ons for the Strasbourg midfielder.
Make no mistake, the Whites liked him, hence why they lodged a £22m offer for the player. Diarra has got bags of potential and underlined his quality with and without the ball in a friendly against England earlier this month.
Yet Elland Road recruitment chiefs were never overly confident of getting a deal over the line for Diarra and have not put all their eggs in the Diarra basket. The competition for his signature and the figures quoted complicated matters. AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt also expressed an interest in Diarra.
It has been suggested United offered to match Sunderland's bid but Diarra's preference was to move to the Stadium of Light. Should the Whites be disappointed and frustrated over missing out on Diarra? He is a talented player, but it is not the end of the world.
49ers Enterprises like to conduct their business quietly and discreetly in the background. Expect them to have other irons in the fire.
There will be other midfield targets. Some will be more cost effective options than Diarra and may have Premier League experience on their CV. The 49ers' record in the transfer market suggests fans should trust their judgement.
What the 49ers have demonstrated throughout their premiership is they will not be bullied in transfer market. They will not pay over the odds for players. Deals have got to be right for them and must be done on their terms.
It is also worth pointing out United have made an encouraging start to the window. Daniel Farke has already added two players to his first team squad and we are still in June.
The window is open for another two months. There is a long way to go and plenty of time left for the Whites to bring in reinforcements to give them the possible chance of staying up. There is no need to panic just yet.
Yes, there are six to seven gaps that need to be filled in the United squad. There is a lot more work to be done but the 49ers have a plan. The time to judge their business will be in early September.
