'See you soon': Nick Pope drops massive hint on social media over new arrival at Newcastle…

· 28 June 2025, 13:00

**Newcastle United are reportedly negotiating on three fronts right now as they look to break their transfer deadlock.**

The Magpies are said to be in talks with Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Burnley for Anthony Elanga, Joao Pedro and James Trafford, respectively.

All reports suggest that the initial bid for each player has been rejected, but talks are still ongoing for each target.

It's expected that James Trafford will likely be the easiest deal to do with term reportedly agreed already and it just being a case of thrashing out a fee with Burnley.

Nick Pope seems to be expecting to see James Trafford in the near future

If it wasn't just the reports that gave Newcastle fans hope of a breakthrough soon, it could be interpreted that Nick Pope is expecting Trafford to join the Magpies soon too.

Commenting on an instagram reel by the 22-year-old England stopper, Nick Pope posted "See you soon shagger", which many fans are interpreting as Nick Pope expecting Trafford to rock up at Newcastle ahead of next season.

Of course, he could have meant something completely different; they could be set to meet up for some entirely non-football-related reason, but there's no fun in that theory.

James Trafford is a penalty cheat code

The post in question by Trafford was a clip of when he saved a penalty in the U21 Euros final in 2023, with Cole Palmer getting extremely excited over how good Trafford is.

It wasn't a fluke save either, as just last season, Trafford kept two Sunderland spot kicks out in one game.

We really hope we can get this deal done this summer, as Trafford has all the potential to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world in time.
