An update has been provided on the future of Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Premier League rivals Chelsea, but - despite their £25million obligation to make that move permanent - the Blues opted to pay a £5m penalty fee to send him back to Old Trafford.
United will be hoping to sell the winger this summer as they look to strengthen their attack. It is believed that the former Borussia Dortmund former does not have a long-term future under Reds boss Ruben Amorim and is expected to leave United M16 again. Clubs from Italy, including Juventus and Napoli, have been linked as well as Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
But it is being reported that Fenerbahce are not currently in talks to sign the Englishman. Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that their main focus is former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has also appeared to suggest a switch to the Serie A side will not happen, unless he lowers his existing demands.
"Our offer is clear, we will not pay Sancho's requested salary," he said via journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu on X.
The Manchester Evening News understands that Sancho's representative, Emeka Obasi, has explored potential opportunities in Germany following his time at Dortmund - with his most recent spell coming during the second half of the 2023/2024 campaign. However, a move to the Bundesliga is no longer being considered.
The Reds want to secure a similar fee to the one that was agreed with Chelsea, in the region of £25million, despite what was a largely disappointing spell in west London.
Sancho scored five goals and provided 10 assists in 41 matches for the Blues, who ended the season by winning the UEFA Conference League and finishing in the top four.
