Jabari Parker Update - New Year, New Team

Jabari Parker came to Duke with a huge reputation and he didn’t disappoint. He was great at Duke before departing for the NBA after his freshman year, becoming the second pick in the 2014 draft (Andrew Wiggins was the first pick).

Unfortunately, during a promising rookie year, Parker blew out his left ACL and then blew it out again in 2017. Injuries derailed his NBA career and after taking a year off, he went overseas.

He’s been playing with FC Barcelona since 2023 but now he’s moving on to KK Partizan. That’s a multi-sport Serbian club with an interesting history. It started in the fall of 1945, just a few months after the end of World War II, and has had some pretty great players over he year including former Laker Vlade Divac.

The current team features Americans Carlik Jones, Duane Washington, Sterling Brown, Tyrique Jones and Dylan Osetkowski.

Jones, you may remember, played for Louisville.

Injuries wrecked his NBA career, but as Parker has said, he made a lot of money and helped his family. And he’s still playing the game he loves, so life is good.
