Manchester City are enjoying success and earning money at the Club World Cup
Manchester City have earned more than £35million from the Club World Cup so far after securing their place in the knockout rounds.
The Blues were the only team to progress with a perfect record from the group stage, racking up the goals as they beat Wydad AC 2-0, Al Ain 6-0 and Juventus 5-2. With prize money on offer for every win in the groups, it was a profitable run of form.
Each group stage victory earned a team $2million, so City's three Group G wins banked them around £4.37million. Securing progress to the last-16 earns another $7.5million, which works out at around £5.46million for Pep Guardiola's side.
City also cashed in a participation fee, and although that hasn't been made public, FIFA have confirmed the sums that were on offer to clubs from every continent. The 12 European qualifiers took home between $12.81million and $38.19million just for turning up.
Those sums are likely to have been decided on coefficients, and it's fair to assume that City would be at the upper end of that scale, so they have probably got a participation fee of around £27million.

That brings City's total earnings so far to around £36.83million, and they could bank much more than that, especially with the draw opening up for them.
They face Al Hilal in Orlando in the last 16 and know victory in that game would secure another $13.125million. A quarter-final against Inter Milan or Fluminense will follow, when $21million will be the reward.
Winning the tournament is worth $40million, with the runners-up taking home $30million, and if City do go all the way, their total earnings from the event are likely to be close to £100million.
