Manchester City are ready to offer Ederson Moraes a massive new deal to continue at the club, amidst interest from the Saudi Pro League.
After a disappointing 2024/25 season, Manchester City have been proactive in the transfer market. They have already added Rayan Cherki, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, and Marcus Bettinelli to their squad and are looking to make more signings in the coming weeks.
While the focus in adding more quality, they are also looking to secure the long-term future of one of their mainstays, Ederson Moraes. According to a report from TBR, City are willing to hand him a bumper new deal to ensure he stays at the club amidst interest from the Middle East.
City signed the Brazilian in the summer of 2017 from Benfica in a deal worth £35 million. He has been their undisputed number one since the start and has helped them win all major titles.
But with his current deal running out in the summer of 2026, his future has been a massive talking point. He was on the verge of joining Al-Nassr last summer. The Saudi giants were ready to make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world, but Pep Guardiola blocked his exit as he was keen on having the 31-year-old in his ranks.
City pushing to secure Ederson’s future
A year later, Saudi Pro League clubs still remain keen on signing the Brazilian shot-stopper. But City have no intentions of sanctioning his departure. They are looking to secure his long-term future with a new bumper deal.
The Premier League giants have already held talks with Ederson over a new deal. During talks with his representatives, they have made it clear that they want to extend his stay beyond 2026 and are ready to hand him a deal with a significant wage hike.
As per the report, City are set to make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the Premier League ahead of the likes of Liverpool’s Alisson Becker and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez. While a move to the Middle East could see him earn an even bigger package, City are trying everything in their power to ensure he continues at the club.
At just 31, he clearly has plenty of football left in him. As a result, making a strong push to secure his long-term future certainly makes sense.
