Newcastle United are being quoted ‘at least €40-50m’ for Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini as the Magpies continue to ask about him.
That’s [according to Corriere della Sera](https://www.corriere.it/), who look at potential exits at Atalanta today and mention Newcastle as suitors for the 21-year-old.
The newspaper reports that while the current focus is on signing players for Ivan Juric there is also an effort to raise prices on their current stars to ward off any bidders.
Scalvini is one of the players in their squad that has admirers and Newcastle are one of them. Indeed, a report earlier this week stated that they had been given a forceful rejection Atalanta when making initial inquiries about the defender.
Corriere della Sera follow that up and report that Scalvini is in the sights of both Napoli and Newcastle this summer. But Atalanta don’t want to sell and have made it clear he is worth at least €40-50m. The assumption is that they would push for the higher price.
Whether Newcastle are willing to pay that remains to be seen but Atalanta aren’t going to make any transfer easy, or cheap either way.
