As talks over a move to Serie A hit the buffers for Manchester United misfit Jadon Sancho, Scudetto holders Napoli appear to have reached advanced discussions with two alternative winger targets.
Hardly an ideal scenario for the Red Devils, then, as a £73 million forgotten man clings like a particularly stubborn barnacle to his eye-watering Old Trafford contract.
After Chelsea decided against signing Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis, and as the former Borussia Dortmund ace turns his nose up at Saudi Arabia, Italy appeared to have emerged as his most likely destination in recent days.
Juventus’ new sporting director Damien Comolli is ‘pushing’ for Jadon Sancho to make the switch to Turin. The Bianconeri are holding further talks. Though while a £25 million price tag is not much of an obstacle, his £250,000-a-week salary most certainly is.
Hence why Napoli appear to have shifted their focus towards a pair of more affordable alternatives. Well, affordable from a wage bill perspective, anyway.
Fabrizio Romano reports that PSV Eindhoven attacker Noa Lang has agreed personal terms with Antonio Conte’s side. The enigmatic Lang, who was famously dumped out of Ajax by Erik ten Hag, could arrive at Napoli for the same fee Manchester United want for Sancho.
Football Italia now claim that Napoli are confident of signing Dan Ndoye as well.

Vincenzo Morabito explains why Jadon Sancho is not leaving Manchester United for Napoli
Bologna forward Ndoye was linked to Man United heavily in the summer of 2024.

Now valued at around £38 million, the impending arrivals of Ndoye and Lang will surely remove Napoli from the picture when it comes to Jadon Sancho’s future.
“On a footballing level, [Noa Lang’s] value is beyond discussion. He is a forward who can make great moves and has qualities that make him really good,” Vincenzo Morabito, an experienced Italian agent who knows the football market like the back of his hand, tells Radio CRC.

“Napoli have thought about him, studied him, analysed him and know him.
“Sancho or Noa Lang? I prefer Sancho. At the current figures, however, there is no doubt that it is more convenient for Napoli to take Noa Lang. I do not know if Sancho will come to Italy in the end.”

Alejandro Garnacho stuck at Man United as Serie A switch hits the buffers
Napoli have cooled their interest in Alejandro Garnacho too. Another winger whose career at Manchester United looks destined to end in a nagging feeling of frustration, but another who appears to be putting off potential suitors due to the finances involved.
“Garnacho? He is on the list of Manchester United purges,” adds Morabito. “Manchester United directors have made numerous mistakes in the market. They have paid players with very high figures and have signed contracts with high salaries.”
On the upside, Real Betis remain intent on signing Antony on a permanent basis. Thus, getting one high-earner off the United wage bill.
