Professional Newcastle United hater Miguel Delaney now gives update on Alexander Isak to…

· 28 June 2025, 17:00

**Newcastle United fans likely need no introduction to journalist Miguel Delaney, who seemed to spend months obsessively writing negative stories about the club following the PIF-backed takeover.**

Delaney was one of a few journalists who hopped atop of their moral superiority horse to aggressively point out the problems with Newcastle's majority owners, which is fine, we're not saying they're perfect by any means, but Delaney would often put the blame onto the fans, as we some were somehow complicit in what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are up to.

Mate, we just support Newcastle, and we finally had owners with money - of course, we were excited. We all have issues with the ownership to some degree, but we all celebrated that Carabao Cup win the same, and we don't feel guilty for it.

So when Delaney chimed in with his view on Alexander Isak to Liverpool, we felt certain that he'd have found a way to spin it in Liverpool's favour, and we wouldn't have been surprised if he even managed to have a dig at the PIF while he was on.

Alexander Isak is going nowhere

Miguel Delaney doesn't see Alexander Isak leaving Newcastle unless he personally pushes for a move

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Writing in the [Reading The Game newsletter](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/miguel-delaney-football-updates-newsletter-b1859565.html) for The Independent, Miguel Delaney actually added his voice to the choir of journalists who are saying that Alexander Isak will not be leaving the Magpies unless he pushes for the move himself, which he's unlikely to do.

> “There continues to be a lot of noise about Alexander Isak, especially as regards Liverpool, but the wonder is why.“The situation is actually simple. Newcastle United are absolutely not going to consider any sale unless Isak agitates to leave, but nobody sees him as that kind of player.

> “It is why you’re not hearing as much about Arsenal’s interest now.”

Alexander Isak wants £200K-a-week at Newcastle

----------------------------------------------

Isak has shown no desire to leave Newcastle, and assuming that contract talks go well in the next couple of weeks, there'll be no reason for him to want to leave, either.

Speculation is that Isak wants £200,000-a-week at Newcastle, which would make him the highest-paid player by far in the club's history and would shatter the current wage cap, but if the Magpies are serious about becoming challengers, they need to start offering silly wages. We've already seen Bryan Mbeumo opt to go elsewhere because he wanted £250,000-a-week, and he's nowhere near Isak's level.

Whether Newcastle are prepared to breach the £200K barrier remains to be seen, but we suspect he'll get close to what he's asking, especially with bonuses.
