Arsenal’s quest for a marquee striker has taken a significant step forward as RB Leipzig reportedly lowers their asking price for Benjamin Sesko, the Gunners’ top transfer target for the summer of 2025.

The 22-year-old Slovenian international has been on Arsenal’s radar for years, with his 21 goals in 45 matches across all competitions last season showcasing his potential to transform Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Initially, Leipzig demanded a hefty €80-100 million (£68-85m) for Benjamin Sesko, a figure that deterred Arsenal and prompted sporting director Andrea Berta to explore alternatives like Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.

However, recent reports from Bild indicate Leipzig have softened their stance, with a reduced fee of around €70 million (£59.7m) now potentially sufficient to secure the 6’5” striker, who remains under contract until June 2029. This development has put Arsenal on high alert, with negotiations reportedly advancing as the club looks to capitalise on this opportunity.

Sesko’s youth, physicality, and experience in the Bundesliga make him a more attractive prospect than Gyokeres for Arteta, who sees the Slovenian as the key to bolstering Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge.

Despite interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United, Bayern’s focus on Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade has cleared a path for Arsenal, while Sesko’s agent has dismissed rumors of pushing for a lower fee, emphasising the player’s openness to a Premier League move.

Social media hints from Benjamin Sesko, including a recent training video, have fueled speculation among Arsenal fans, with some interpreting his activity as a nod to a potential Emirates switch.

However, challenges remain, as Sesko’s wage demands previously caused friction, though Arsenal’s strategic patience under Berta’s guidance may yet pay dividends. With funds allocated for a blockbuster signing, Arsenal are poised to finalise a deal that could define their 2025/26 season, bringing a clinical edge to a squad desperate for silverware.
