Report: Arsenal pushing to sign ‘unbelievable’ winger instead of Williams, he’s ‘faster than…

Arsenal are reportedly turning to Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi after seemingly missing out on top target Nico Williams.

Spanish outlet Fichajes.net reports that the Gunners are set to pursue Adeyemi as a Williams alternative, amid the latter looking likely to join Barcelona. Arteta wants a new attacker who can play out wide and the Dortmund star fits the bill.

Adeyemi has struggled for consistency since arriving at Signal Iduna Park in the summer of 2022. He has shown glimpses of promise and managed seven goals and six assists in the Bundesliga last season.

Arsenal want to bolster their attack and are continuing to pursue both Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko for the number nine role. Arteta is also looking for a wide attacker but looks increasingly likely to miss out on Williams who was his first-choice.

Adeyemi, who is currently with Dortmund at the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, has two years left on his contract. The Germans are thought to be open to sale if a "compelling offer" arrives this summer.

The eight-cap Germany international can play on either wing and as a central striker and this versatility could be hugely beneficial. There are claims that he is faster than Jamaican olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt.

The Gunners were struck by an injury crisis last season that caused Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz to spend spells on the sidelines. A new attacker didn't arrive in January despite Arteta's admiration of Williams.

It's claimed that a potential deal could come to fruition once the North London giants learn the outcome of Barca's potential move for Williams. The Catalans seem to be optimistic over their chances given Raphinha has talked up the young Athletic Bilbao winger.

There is no word on how much Dortmund will demand for Adeyemi, dubbed "unbelievable" but he cost the Bundesliga side £32.5m (€38m) three summers ago. He was linked with a move to the Premier League in January until Chelsea decided not to swoop for the former Red Bull Salzburg forward despite holding interest.
