The people’s choice against Benfica: All aboard the strongest XI

Unlike most other major international club competitions, the knockout rounds in the FIFA Club World Cup are single-leg affairs, so it all depends on tonight’s match against Benfica whether we reach the quarterfinals.

The Portuguese giants have yet to lose a game, beating both Auckland City and, more impressively, [Bayern Munich](https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com) to win their group. The opening day draw against Boca Juniors is the only blemish on their record, though they did come back from 2-0 down in that game to earn the point. In fact, since half-time of that game, they have not conceded a single goal, scoring nine without reply.

Obviously, this match will require the strongest XI from Chelsea, and will require that strongest XI to actually play well.

For the [WAGNH Community](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1XrksqoWrjzc9cLfiICfO5g4OByt_W0i2XyN1dnY-q2Q/edit#responses), that strongest lineup includes eight obvious choices (all getting 85% of the vote or more), two other choices with a strong majority (getting around two-thirds of the vote), and one final choice getting barely over 50 per cent.

**4-2-3-1 (71%)**

Others of note include Roméo Lavia (37%) and Trevoh Chalobah (37%), while the young trio of Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, and Josh Acheampong all scored in the teens.
