Crystal Palace are said to have identified a new Eberechi Eze replacement.

Crystal Palace are now being linked with a new attacker as they contemplate losing Eberechi Eze this summer. It’s a big summer for the Eagles as they prepare for their first season in European football.

Oliver Glasner needs to strengthen his squad but he must also battle to keep hold of some of his key men. Palace face the possibility of losing marc Guehi, who is going into the last year of his contract, while Eze has attracted plenty of attention and has a release clause worth £68million.

Palace will be preparing for the possibility of both players leaving, and it seems they are doing some shopping for attack-minded midfielder who can also play wide. Possible Eze replacements are being sounded out, and according to a report from Tutto Bologna Web, the Eagles are considering a deal for RB Leipzig star Antonio Nusa.

TuttoMercatoWeb say Nusa will cost around £29.9million, and that would be no issue for Palace if they are expecting to lose Eze for £68million this summer. Nusa has made 25 league appearances for Leipzig so far, scoring three times. The 15-time Norway international has only been with the German club since last year when he joined from Club Brugge.

Nusa on his almost move

Interestingly, Nusa came close to a move to England in the past, almost joining Brentford. Speaking to The Athletic about that near move, he said: “It was a strange, strange time. First of all, my priority was my fitness and being able to sort that out. To find out what the problem was. In the end, there was no problem. I got everything checked out and then refocused.

“For a young player — I was 18 at that time — of course it was difficult to deal with stuff you haven’t experienced before. And it took some time. I cannot say it was easy, but I got over it. I think it made me stronger. In football you need to experience those things to see what they’re like and to see if you can handle them,” he says. “And I feel like I handled that well. Maybe I grew from it? And I’m very happy where I am now, so I cannot complain about that.”

Speaking about his time in Germany, he added: “It’s been amazing for me and I’ve really grown as a player.I’ve played positions I’ve never played before. Growing up, I was always a left-sided attacker, but being versatile is a valuable skill in football nowadays, so I’m trying to improve my game on the right.

“It’s a work in progress to be comfortable, but I feel like I’ve had the right help and support. It’s good to have expectation. When you’re playing at a higher level, you get more and so you must try to embrace it. I kind of enjoy it, I think. And if you’re doing something right, people will talk about you anyway.”
