Transfer talk has dominated Manchester United discourse over the past few weeks, but with pre-season imminent it is worth remembering the quality already at Old Trafford.
This summer is still expected to see Manchester United drastically alter Ruben Amorim’s squad.
There are several players expected to be part of a United ‘bomb squad’ at Carrington with their futures already decided to be elsewhere.
So far this summer, United have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves to add to a struggling attack. In addition, Ineos remains close to agreeing on a fee with Brentford to bring Bryan Mbeumo to United this summer.
These two additions are excellent, and they will add to an already exciting group that has some talents who have the potential to become world-class over the next few years.
This includes an exciting duo who will be key in the spine of United’s side for the next decade.

Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro are the future for Manchester United
Despite much of the United squad being for sale this summer, two players Ineos must hold onto by any means are Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro.
The pair are bonafide wonderkids, with the potential to become true world-beaters in the coming years if they develop as hoped. Over the summer, United fans have caught a glimpse of this future with the two youngsters spending their summer holidays together and building a very strong relationship.

Mainoo and Yoro are 20 and 19 respectively and all being well they will still be playing in red when they are 30 and 29, which would likely mean good news for United.
The talent possessed by both Mainoo and Yoro means they will likely become top-tier regardless of whether or not United returns to the top of football, so in a way this duo can define the next 10 years for Ineos and United.
Yoro cost United £52m last summer and quickly made the fee be forgotten which is a testament to how impressive he was in the final months of last season. Meanwhile, Mainoo cost nothing, being a boyhood United player and fan which will make his ascendancy even sweeter.
Both are set for a big 2025-26 under Amorim.

Given the ages of both, United fans are unlikely to see the best of either for a couple of years yet. However, Yoro is already one of the first names on Amorim’s teamsheet, which means big things will be expected this summer.
For Mainoo, things are a little different right now after a season where he regressed in minutes and also performances.
The 20-year-old likely struggled with the workload that was placed onto him by Erik ten Hag and the lack of a summer break with the European Championships and therefore 2024-25 saw a handful of injury problems.
Mainoo also lost the mobility and agility which made him so impressive in his debut campaign.
However, in pre-season preparation, he appears to be in better shape than ever and ready for next season which we expect will see him make an impressive return to stardom in midfield for United.
