Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze has provided the latest update on the reported RB Leipzig interest in Harvey Elliott.

The 22-year-old’s future has been one of the frequent discussions among Liverpool fans this summer.

Elliott was one of the players who did not have a good campaign in Arne Slot’s first year at the club.

The Englishman, who joined the Reds’ first team in 2019, has grown increasingly frustrated by his limited opportunities on Merseyside.

During the 2023/24 campaign, Harvey Elliott featured prominently across all competitions. He played 1,335 minutes in the Premier League over 34 appearances, contributing three goals and nine assists.

Across Europa League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup fixtures, he added a further 1,451 minutes.

However, he managed only 360 minutes in Premier League play during 2024/25, spread over eight substitute appearances and two starts after the title had been secured.

His lack of game time has led to speculation that he will leave Liverpool this summer in search of more playing time.

Several Premier League sides have been linked with a move for him. Aston Villa, Brighton, Newcastle and West Ham have all been linked with the player.

On Saturday, reports emerged that Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have entered the race for Elliott.

However, Sky Germany journalist Philipp Hinze has clarified the reports, revealing that the 22-year-old is not a player RB Leipzig wants to sign.

According to the journalist, Elliott, who Liverpool value at around £40m, is too expensive for the German side, while his profile as a player is not one Leipzig are in the market for.

“English media reports about Leipzig’s interest in Harvey Elliott,” Hinze wrote on X.

“According to our information, there is nothing to it as of today. There have been neither talks nor negotiations, not even a casual exchange. Moreover, with a price tag of over 45/50 million Euros, it’s very expensive, probably too expensive. As a half-space No. 10, he doesn’t necessarily fit the desired profile either, currently off the table.”
