The New York Giants should feel optimistic about their offense with the addition of Russell Wilson and the weapons in his arsenal. The team has an elite and promising number-one target in Malik Nabers, a solid veteran in Darius Slayton, who is expected to bounce back, and a catching machine in Wan’Dale Robinson, who is entering a contract year. The Giants also hope to see growth and improvement, not another regression from their speedy receiver.

After a promising rookie season and hauling in 23 receptions on 40 targets with 16.2 yards per reception for 373 yards in 557 snaps, Jalin Hyatt had a significant regression in Year 2. His targets dropped to 19, snaps dipped to 346, and his yards per reception fell to 7.8. Hyatt caught only eight passes for 62 yards in 16 games over three starts.

During an appearance on the Giants Huddle podcast, Jalin Hyatt was asked to reflect on his rough 2024 campaign. He said he gained 24 to 25 pounds this offseason, bulking up to 194-195 pounds, and explained that’s what “darkness does.” Hyatt also shared that he and the coaching staff have discussed moving him around more in Year 3 and using different alignments after primarily playing on the outside.
“I played at like 170, 171 last year, I’m about 194, 195 now,” Hyatt said. “I’m telling you, that’s what darkness does to you. It changes you.
“I had good conversations with Dabes (head coach Brian Daboll) and (general manager) Joe Schoen about after last year, what we can do to have a better Year 3. And that was one of those things that I pointed out and you know, I want to move around. Don’t want to just stay on the outside, I played slot at Tennessee, and I just want to fill that slot again and at the same time still play outside. Just move me around.”
