Paul Prim has said an emotional farewell to Barcelona as he leaves the club after 12 years at the Camp Nou.
The [teenager was once tipped as a potential successor to Sergio Busquets](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2023/7/21/23802685/xavi-decides-barcelona-teen-is-his-chosen-one-to-succeed-sergio-busquets) but hasn’t been able to break into the first team at Barcelona due to the intense competition for places.
Prim has now revealed his time is up but admits it’s a very difficult decision to leave the greatest club in the world.
“Dear colleagues, fans and Barcelona family, this message is for you.
“Today is a different day, a day in which the most special stage of my life so far ends. After so many years defending this shield, the time has come to say goodbye. A farewell full of emotions and feelings that I can never describe. It’s hard for me to leave, but I know that everything has a cycle.
“It all started at the Barça school, where I wasn’t aware of everything that was waiting for me. I entered pre-Benjamin at only 7 years old and leave after 12 years, very satisfied with everything I have done and to have completed the dream I had since I was young. “Without a doubt, I felt the weight and pride of carrying this shield on my chest.
“I’m so thankful for the affection I’ve received since the first day I walked in. Thanks to the club for giving me the opportunity to grow in a unique environment. Teammates, thank you very much for making me a better person and football player. And thanks to my family for always being there for me.
“Since I was 20 years old I have been lucky enough to defend this shield, and those who know me, know that I haven’t stopped until my last day. The culer feeling is unique, and wherever I go I will carry it inside me. I will be a culer all my life, wherever I am. Long live Barcelona and long live Catalonia.”
It’s not clear yet where Prim will play his football next season. There has [previously been talk of a move to Al-Sadd](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/3/21/24390093/barcelona-starlet-pau-prim-in-advanced-talks-to-sign-for-al-sadd-on-a-free) - the Qatari club previously managed by Xavi.
