One day before the U.S. men's national team faces Costa Rica in the Gold Cup quarterfinal, a bombshell report has said head coach Mauricio Pochettino recently interviewed for the Brentford managerial role.
The Premier League side announced the hiring of Keith Andrews on Friday but according to The 42, Pochettino was one of the candidates the Bees interviewed.
Should the report prove true, it would raise serious questions about Pochettino's commitment to the USMNT with one year until a World Cup on home soil kicks off.
The Argentine has only been on board since September, when he replaced Gregg Berhalter on a contract through the World Cup.
It's been an up and down tenure for Pochettino, with the USMNT entering the Gold Cup on the program's first four-game losing streak since 2007. The U.S. turned things around with three wins in the group stage, but bigger challenges are set to come in the knockout stage.

Pochettino has already been linked with a different Premier League vacancy this month, this one at his former side Tottenham.
When asked about the rumors linking him with a return to north London, Pochettino deemed them "not realistic."
Tottenham ultimately appointed Brentford's Thomas Frank as their new boss, ironically creating the vacancy that Pochettino reportedly interviewed to fill.
