After weeks of speculation, Chelsea have agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens.
Gittens has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and the Blues have got their man, with a transfer agreed in the region of £55million.
The 20-year-old was the first-choice signing for the left winger position and head coach Enzo Maresca has got his man with Gittens set to put pen to paper on a seven-year contract in west London.
football.london understands Gittens will complete the first part of his medical with Chelsea in the United States of America on Saturday night, with his new teammates in action against Benfica in the last 16 of the Club World Cup competition.
Gittens is also in America for the tournament with current club Borussia Dortmund. The German outfit also qualified for the last 16 and will play Monterrey in Atlanta on Tuesday night.
And that means he will join up with his new Chelsea teammates in the States, but will not be able to play with them during the tournament, instead having to wait until the whole squad returns home for pre-season in England.
Article 24.8 on the FIFA regulations for the tournament state: "For the avoidance of doubt, no player may be on the final list of more than one club participating in the competition, and no player may play matches for more than one club participating in the competition."
Having already been on the squad list for Dortmund and having played for the Black & Yellow in the tournament in the States, Gittens is not eligible to play for Chelsea after completing his move to the Blues.
Gittens got 12 goals and five assists for Dortmund in 2024/25 in what was his true breakout year.
