76ers' Blockbuster NBA Trade Rumors for Paul George Described in One Word

The Philadelphia 76ers had a big decision to make in the NBA Draft, as they held the No. 3 pick. There were rumors floating over the past few weeks on who they might draft, and one of the options was Ace Bailey. After Bailey decided to cancel his workout and his meeting with the 76ers, the team looked to go in a different direction, and that's why they went with V.J. Edgecombe.

Edgecombe was a good pick for the 76ers, and he can make plays on both sides of the ball. He'll be a great addition to the team, and if they can stay healthy, they'll be back as an Eastern Conference contender.

One rumor that came out before the draft was that the 76ers could look to trade Paul George and the No. 3 pick to move down, but they ended up not doing it. According to The Stein Line, a source used the word "nonsense" to describe the 76ers' thinking when trying to trade the pick and George.

"The Sixers indeed held firm at No. 3 as they insisted beforehand they would and duly drafted VJ Edgecombe. The Baylor star will now join Jared McCain in providing a youthful backcourt boost to the star trio of Joel Embiid, George, and Tyrese Maxey. Those three, as The Stein Line reported earlier this month, have been earmarked to receive another shot next season to try to contend for a championship after they managed to appear in just 15 games (7-8) together last season," The Stein Line wrote.

It may have been best for the 76ers to pick the best talent at No. 3, while also keeping their current team intact.
