After several weeks of back-and-forth negotiations, Borussia Dortmund have agreed to sell Jamie Gittens to Chelsea for a fee of around €65 million. Jamie will have his medical with the London club later today. According to Fabrizio Romano, the young Englishman will sign a seven year contract.

Chelsea and Dortmund have been haggling over Gittens’ price for weeks now, with Chelsea initially bidding much lower in the realm of €50 million. However, it now seems that Dortmund will receive a much higher fee, although still much lower than the admittedly optimistic 9-figure valuations that the club was applying back in early 2025.
Gittens has always been an exciting prospect, although at times frustrating. His dribbling skills and pace are world-class, but he has so far been unable to translate those skills into the kind of elite goal and assist production that would launch him into the true upper echelon of wingers. Chelsea clearly see a lot of potential in him, and are willing to pay up front for it.
For their part. Dortmund have now lost a major offensive threat, and will need to find a way to replace Gittens. The club could look internally to other young players like Julien Duranville, or look at bringing in more talent after the Club World Cup.
