Arsenal are likely to make multiple additions to their forward department this summer.
A marquee striker is the prime priority for the Gunners, but a versatile winger could be signed too.
AFTV’s Robbie Lyle has now revealed that Arsenal have exclusively held talks with Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
The club have not progressed any further, but the Nigerian is one of the wingers being considered alongside Eberechi Eze.
Lookman has two years remaining on his contract, and Atalanta are seeking €50 million for his summer transfer.
Arsenal likely to sign a marquee winger
Lookman had a good 2023/24 campaign with 27 goal contributions. He made the headlines with a sublime hat-trick in the Europa League final triumph over Bayer Leverkusen.
The Charlton Athletic graduate replicated his performances last term with 17 goals and 10 assists. He is now expected to pursue a bigger challenge away from Bergamo.
Lookman previously had forgettable Premier League stints with Everton, Leicester City and Fulham, where he managed just 11 goals and six assists from 96 appearances.
Despite this, he may want to redeem himself. Arsenal’s transfer interest does not come as a surprise, given Lookman’s ability to play anywhere in the final third.
The Gunners may particularly see him as an option on the left wing. Lookman could be a fallback target if the club can’t pursue the preferred names on their wishlist.
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo seems the number one choice at the moment, followed by Palace’s Eze. A deal for Lookman could be pursued if they can’t sign one of the duo.
