BBC journalist Sami Mokbel has revealed that Crystal Palace captain March Guehi would “run across London” to join Arsenal provided he is guaranteed regular first-team football.
The 24-year-old centre-back has just one year remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park and is attracting strong interest from several top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Newcastle United. Guehi’s commanding performances in the Premier League and at EURO 2024, where he helped guide England to the final, have cemented his reputation as one of the league’s most promising defenders.
Speaking on the Latte Firm podcast, Mokbel revealed that Arsenal are very in their pursuit of Guehi, alongside Dutch prospect Jorrel Hato of Ajax. However, Mokbel added that Guehi’s willingness to move to the Emirates hinges on assurances over his playing time.

“The issue with Marc Guehi is he looks at Arsenal, and of course, if Arsenal came to him with a proposal to say ‘you’re going to be one of our starting centre-backs,’ then he would run across London to do that deal, I’m sure he would,” Mokbel said.

Guehi is reportedly wary of becoming a third-choice centre-back behind William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, whose partnership remains one of the Premier League’s strongest. That uncertainty has made Liverpool an appealing alternative, as the Anfield club are believed to offer a clearer path to consistent minutes, crucial in a World Cup year.

While Crystal Palace value the defender at around £50 million, Arsenal have so far been reluctant to meet that valuation. However, with Guehi entering the final year of his deal, Palace may be forced to cash in to avoid losing him for free next summer, despite ongoing efforts to tie him down to a new contract.
Arsenal’s interest in Guehi forms part of a broader summer strategy aimed at adding depth and quality across the pitch. Mokbel noted that the Gunners are also close to sealing deals for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi, Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard, and Valencia centre-back Christian Mosquera.
Guehi’s blend of composure, athleticism, and ball-playing skill has drawn widespread acclaim, with many tipping him as a future mainstay for both club and country. Whether Arsenal can convince him of a clear path to the starting XI remains to be seen but their interest is real.
