Manchester United have been reported to be selling players this summer in the aim of making space for new players who Ruben Amorim believes will be able to benefit the Red Devils next.
Among these names rumoured to be leaving the club are Alejandro Garnacho – who was photographed in an Aston Villa shirt last week – and Rasmus Hojlund – who for a large percentage of this transfer window has looked to be on his way to Italy.
Now, it has been revealed by the Telegraph that Manchester United may have to pay millions of pounds to players in order to force them to leave.
This is due to the length of contracts the players linked to leave have currently.
For example, all three of Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony have contracts that don’t expire until 2028.
This therefore forces United to subsidise the money that would be paid to these players as a part of their contract even if they are playing for another club.
This could cost the Red Devils millions of pounds to do.
This could affect Manchester United’s business in future transfer windows and limit the amount of recruitment Ruben Amorim is able to do.
Consequently, this could affect both the performances and results of Manchester United over the coming seasons whilst also impacting the reputation of the club.
This probes the question of how will the club deal with this problem?
Well, there are a number of solutions.
However, one of these is that United could negotiate with the clubs interested in the players rumoured to be leaving to include a sell-on fee in the deals.
This would help the club to gain more funds if the players were to be sold in the future.
Will this issue affect Manchester United massively? Only time will tell.
