Anderson helps England U21s win U21s Euros

Midfielder completed 99 minutes of the final

Forest playmaker appeared in every game at the tournament

Elliot Anderson helped England Under-21s retain the Euro Under-21 Championship as the Young Lions overcame Germany in the final on Saturday evening.

The Forest maestro started the final in Slovakia, completing 99 minutes of the match as the contest entered extra time following a 2-2 draw at the end of the regular 90.

Harvey Elliott and Omari Hutchinson gave Lee Carsley’s side a two-goal lead after 24 minutes before Germany fought back with goals in either half from Nelson Weiper and Paul Nebel to level the scores just after the hour mark.

As the contest entered an additional 30 minutes, Jonathan Rowe fired the Young Lions back into the lead two minutes into extra time to put England on the verge of European glory.

Anderson was withdrawn after 99 minutes having appeared in every match of the tournament, scoring once and laying on one assist, whilst putting in a number of impressive performances from the middle of the park.

The Young Lions ran out 3-2 winners against Germany to claim successive wins in the competition.

Anderson becomes the second succssive Forest player to win the Euro Under-21 Championship after Morgan Gibbs-White in 2023.
