Following the post on 2025 offensive team leaders, I posted the following question:
> **What’s your prediction for who will lead the** [**Miami Dolphins**](https://www.thephinsider.com/) **defense and special teams in any statistical category? Give us your list of leaders, along with statistical numbers, if you also want to predict those.**
Below are some of your thoughts and answers-
**Dolfanjoe** has Seiler leading the way.
> Seiler is the unquestioned quiet leader of this defense!
**sdphinsfan** has the trio of pass rushers going off.
> I don’t know if he’ll lead in anything statistically, but I think Seiler cements himself as the leader of the Defense. The trio of Chop, Chubb, and JP will end up with between 25-30 sacks as a group. And I won’t be surprised if Grant finds himself in the conversation for DROY. He’ll have opportunities...
**SlayerNation1** has an LB leading the team in INTs.
> Malik should have all the return yards.
>
> Sacks : Sieler 12, Chop will improve but still single digits
>
> Chop will get the pressures, never been a finisher
>
> Tackles: whatever Safety is best at tackling
>
> Interceptions: Dotson with 3 again, yes a LB leading the team in Interceptions again for obvious reasons.
>
> Weaver: leads the organization in HC interviews for 2026
**JUK** has Chop as the team's leader in sacks.
> This is much more difficult than the offensive side. We’ve got 4 good candidates for sacks/pressures but I’m going to go for Chop. Tackles is easy - Brooks. Interceptions… who knows???
**glen55**, Like most of us, is worried about that secondary.
> Interesting choice putting Chop in the header photo with 2 veteran sack artists on the roster. But if I had to put money on one of them he is the one I would go for.
>
> I hope one of the cornerbacks gets more than 1 pick. That position still has me scared.
**Yarganaught** believes the team will have a top-5 defense.
> Washington to return... But if this is Hill’s last season as a Dolphin, I might use him. Perhaps that way he can claim some sort of large number of all-purpose yards at the end of the season (because Waddle may get more receiving yards).
>
> I don’t see one stand-out sack leader, but a high total of them shared between Seiler, Grant, Chop, Chubb, and Phillips. Opponents aren’t going to know who to block, or might have a difficult time accounting for them all during any given game.
>
> Tackles will be Brooks.
>
> I actually see the CBs taking advantage of rushed passes, and coming up with more INTs than we’ve seen in recent years.
>
> Top 5 Defense with <20pts per game average.
**JPeay** has the defense going off.
> Return yards: Malik Washington, Tackles: will definitely be Jordan Brooks (top 5 in the league), Sacks: if healthy our big 3 (Chop, Chub, Phillips) will all produce 8+, Ints: I think with a more expanded role in Weavers defense will lead to a breakout year for Ashtyn Davis with 5+. Honor Mention: Sieler 6+ Sacks, Iffy & Kohu 3+ Ints. Top 5 defense overall....Go Fins!!!
The post was a bit slower than I like, but such is the way the Summer goes around here. It appears that the fans have a great deal of confidence in this defense heading into the season. Thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our question of the day.
