Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri came on at the start of extra-time as England Under-21s retained the European Championship by beating Germany 3-2.
Nwaneri, the youngest member of the England squad at the age of 18, was involved in all of the young Lions’ matches at the tournament.
England established a two-goal lead courtesy of efforts from Harvey Elliott and former Arsenal player Omari Hutchinson.
However, Germany equalised through Nelson Wieper just before half time and later levelled via a goal from Paul Nebel.
Substitute Jonathan Rowe proved to be the hero for England and he scored early in extra-time shortly after his introduction.
Although Nwaneri didn’t score or assist at the tournament the experience will undoubtedly be hugely beneficial for the youngster, especially given that he was given game time in different positions.
