It’s been a couple of days since Juventus were handed a 5-2 loss at t he hands of Manchester City in the final game of the Club World Cup group stage. But the ripple effect of Pep Guardiola’s new-look City side steamrolling through Juventus is still very much top of mind.
It was bad.
It was all bad.
Because of the loss to City this past Thursday, Juventus finished second in Group G and will have another large task if they want to keep their run at the Club World Cup alive, with Real Madrid next up on the schedule in the round of 16. Much like City, Real Madrid are in the midst of a rebuild with new manager Xabi Alonso, but have played rather well in their last CWC outing to wrap up the group stage.
Doesn’t exactly fill you with optimism, does it?
For all we know, Juventus could surprise the hell out of us and give Real Madrid a run for their money this coming Tuesday. But if they look anything like they did against Manchester City, then it’s going to be a long evening in the heat and humidity Miami will provide.
