All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they continue with their efforts to sign new talent.
Arsenal are now stepping up the pace of their summer transfer business with three deals now said to be agreed at this still early stage. Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard all look to be inbound at the Emirates Stadium.
But the Gunners are still short in a number of areas, and they still need to sign both a starting calibre and a winger. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.
Gyokeres claim
Arsenal are already said to have struck an agreement with Viktor Gyokeres as they continue their bid to thrash out a deal with Sporting CP. The Gunners are pushing to land one of Gyokeres of Benjamin Sesko, but they have not been able to strike a deal with either of Sporting CP or RB Leipzig at this stage.
Gyokeres will reportedly cost £58million, and O Jogo have claimed that Arsenal have already agreed a package with the striker’s agent Hasan Çetinkaya. But that’s only half of the battle, and Arsenal are now going to have to decide whether topush for a deal for Gyokeres or Sesko with both players expected to agree to a move. Gyokeres is not due back at Sporting for another week or so due to having extended leave due to the post-season internationals.
Jackson claim
Arsenal are said to be keeping an eye on Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson amid talk the frontman could end up moving on. Journalist Duncan Castles has said on The Transfers Podcast: “There’s one more name that I’ve become aware of this week, which may come as a surprise, which is Nicolas Jackson, the striker who’s had an interesting time in his two years at Chelsea. Chelsea have always been looking for either adding someone else in that position or replacing him totally. Chelsea say they’re not actively looking to sell Jackson in this window, but he’s not one of the untouchable figures within their squad.
“The guidance I have on where Arsenal are on this is that this broad range of options is deliberate. They want to ensure that they get a centre-forward for Arteta in this window and don’t feel like they did last summer. They will do one of these deals. They’re telling the representatives of the players involved that what it will come down to is the deal that they believe makes the best sense to the club.”
Mosquera verdict
Valencia skipper Jose Luis Gaya has had his say on Crithian Mosquera joining Arsenal amid a reported failed Gunners bid for the defender. He told A Punt: “I would be delighted if all three could stay because I think they can give a lot this new season and bring a lot of joy to the fans.
“As of today, unless there’s any breaking news, I think all three of them are still with us, and I hope it continues like this, and they continue to grow as players.”
