Birmingham City 'rival Nottingham Forest' as they're linked with £7m-rated winger

Birmingham City have been credited with an interest in La Liga winger Carlos Vicente - who has already outlined that he has long-term ambitions, like Blues, to play football in the Premier League.

Blues are back in the Championship in the transfer window; there is talk of a return for Demarai Gray, and Wolves midfielder Tommy Doyle.

Another player they have been tentatively linked with is Vicente, who plays for Deportivo Alaves in La Liga. He only joined last summer from second tier Racing Ferrol and made 11 goal contributions in 38 appearances in league and cup.

Vicente, 26, has a couple of years left on his contract but is supposedly attracting interest from around Europe. Olympiakos in Greece are keen but have been reportedly put off by his £7m valuation, while Besiktas in Turkey and Nottingham Forest - competing in the Conference League next season -

“I’m a physical player with stamina,” Vicente told in April. “I have the ability to generate things with a dribble but I’m disciplined for my team, too. I’ve always been a winger and I’ve played as an attacker, but thanks to my physical ability, I can hold up well in a wide position. I think I can adapt as a full-back, too.

"The style of play I have now is not the one I had when I was younger, when I looked at Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. I watch Premier League games and I’m a profile that is seen and liked there. It tends to be a much more physical competition than in Spain. It is clear that the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world. It’s very attractive.”
