The latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours

Manchester United’s transfer business is proving more complicated than hoped with a second bid rejected for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo on Friday.

The Red Devils have managed to get a deal done for Matheus Cunha, largely thanks to his £62.5m release clause which meant no talks over a fee with the price firmly set. A move for Mbeumo is proving more difficult.

After seeing an offer of £45m plus up to £10m in add-ons rejected earlier in the month, United returned with an up front offer of £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons but this has also been knocked back.

Mbeumo has been linked with Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur but his preference is a move to the Red Devils. While a deal drags on, United have looked to bolster their youth ranks. Early next week, Diego Leon will join the club from Cerro Porteño after an agreement was reached to sign him back in January, while Enzo Kana-Biyik is set to arrive from Le Havre. United have also agreed to sign Southampton youngster Harley Emsden-James when his contract expires on Monday.

Enzo Kana-Biyik set for loan exit

According to journalist Christopher Michel, Kana-Biyik is poised to leave United on loan in order to get regular minutes of senior football. It is a signal of intent as to where United see the player in his development. He will move to Swiss club FC Lausanne who are also owned by INEOS.

Michel confirmed on X: “Talent Enzo Kana-Biyik will be loaned out for one season. The next club is Lausanne. He should gain valuable minutes there, develop and, at best, score his first goals.”

Lausanne finished fifth in the Swiss Super League last season, just one point behind Lugano in fourth. They missed out on an automatic spot in the Europa Conference League as a result but are in the second qualifying round as things stand. If they qualify, it could also give Kana-Biyik an early taste of European football.

He had been banned for four years initially but an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport saw the suspension significantly reduced. In the official announcement of his move to Monaco, Pogba broke down in tears as he signed his contract as he said "thanks for the trust".
