West Ham look set to revive their interest in Liverpool star Tyler Morton.

Graham Potter is crying out for pace and dynamism in the engine room ahead of the new season and the Reds star would fit the bill.

The 22-year-old featured just five times for the Premier League champions last season, and none of those appearances came in the league.

The London Stadium outfit could take advantage and offer him a route to first-team football in the top flight.

A report from the print edition of Mail on Sunday (page 89, 29 June) claims that the Irons want to sign Morton, who could be part of a mass Anfield exit, with Jarell Quansah set for a medical at Bayer Leverkusen.

The Reds star was a pivotal member of England’s Under-21 European Championship-winning side, notching the assist for the winner in extra time of the final against Germany.

Ex-Red Neil Mellor was stunned by the contribution from the former Hull City and Blackburn Rovers loanee, saying: “Tyler Morton that is an outrageous cross to get the assist!”

Morton could shine at West Ham

Morton could be an ideal signing for Potter, he possesses the technical quality on the ball and the defensive acumen to shine in East London.

He could come in and establish himself as a star straight away in E20, he just has not been giving the chance with the champions, due to the depth of riches at their disposal.

Morton’s stats for the Reds last season.

Former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp once claimed that Morton had an “outstanding” football brain [TNT Sports], when he had the England-U21 ace in his squad, but it seems like Arne Slot does not rate him as highly.

That could be a blessing for West Ham, who can offer Morton regular gametime and a chance to become a star in the elite division.

The likes of Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez are facing uncertain futures under Potter, so it makes sense that they are targeting the young maestro..

His latest exploits for his country may bring more suitors, so the Hammers may have to act fast to get a deal over the line.
