The continued reports linking Danish goalkeeping coach Casper Ankergren with a move to West Ham is exciting – not, primarily, because of his coaching prowess which is, I’m sure, first rate: More by association with who he’s worked and the expectation that a Danish coach will herald a new, corresponding Danish ‘keeper transfer arrival in the green jersey too.
Last week Gonzo’s article quoted exWHUemployee as highlighting both Ankergren and Leicester’s Danish keeper supreme Mads Hermansen. In the last day fresh fuel has been added to that fire from Danish site tipsbladet.dk who are now reporting with their article headed:
“Mads Hermansen could be on his way to West Ham” – with local journalist Gianluca Di Marco now echoeing talksport.dk’s claim:

“The club [West Ham, that is!] really likes him, and it could be a good opportunity for him. I don’t believe he will stay at Leicester. And I think West Ham will be the right option for him.”
If true it would be a perfect way to get West Ham’s transfer window up and running.
Hermansen was widely reported last week as being a £15 – £20 million keeper (Leicester paid €7.7 million two years ago) which also makes financial ‘win’ for West Ham over the more expensive Ramsdale or Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic. (One report today suggested thirty five million – which I’d politely be tempted to discount! The Hammers spending thirty five million on a keeper is as likely as seeing John Duran running out in front of the home fans wearing number 9 at London Stadium)
Make no bones about it, Hermansen is the real deal and he won’t be coming to sit on the bench. The in-depth article that followed in Claret and Hugh last week is worth a read – in case you’re in any doubt that he’ll push Areola all the way.
What is more he’d fit in to Potter’s plans and reinvigorate fan interest.
He’s a breath of fresh air waiting to hit Stratford: Exciting. Really. Just don’t let him sign for anyone else!
